Core Requirements

The basic structure of the majors provides every student with a set of core competencies that are presented in a series of three courses in the domain of public health plus a course in statistics and a course in either public health or medical ethics.

Students must complete two core requirements - which includes the four Public Health General Core courses (PHLT 101, PHLT 103, introductory STAT course, and either PHIL 228 or PHIL 225) and the major-specific core requirements - before they can declare a public health major. Students must also have a average major GPA of at least a 2.0 to be able to declare a public health major.
