Hometown: Horseheads, New York
Anticipated graduation year: 2019
Degree: BS in business: accounting track with a minor in legal studies
Why did you choose the University of Rochester?
I was originally recruited for basketball and was really drawn to the medical center because I was a pre-medical student.
Why did you choose the business major?
I started out as a microbiology student and was doing all the pre-med stuff—from being a chemistry TA to working in a lab. One day I woke up and felt that I didn’t want to go to school that long, randomly took accounting and economics, and loved it. The rest is history!
What has been your favorite undergraduate Simon Business School course and why?
ACC 201: Financial Accounting because I love financial accounting (weird) and because it led me to change my major and, ultimately, to my current internship!
What are your activities outside of class?
I play rugby and I absolutely love it. I stopped basketball after freshman year. Although I loved it, I couldn’t commit that much time anymore because I wanted to try new things and figure myself out. Rugby provides the perfect balance for me. I am also a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity.
Have you done an internship?
Yes! First with First American Equipment Finance, an excellent mid-size leasing and financing firm in Victor, New York, that recruits out of Rochester (and whose CEO attended the University). Now, I am interning at a Big Four firm, KPMG, and I love it.
What are your career goals?
I would like to become a partner of a Big Four accounting firm and perhaps teach.
