Xorlali Plange

Xorlali Plange is a Ghanaian costume designer, educator, and researcher whose work spans theatre, opera, dance, and film. He holds an MFA in Design for Stage and Film from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana. His design credits include Queen (African Grove Theatre, NYU), The House That Will Not Stand (Walker Theatre), and Atobra (ETS Drama Studio), among others. He is the recipient of the 2025 Judy Dearing Award for Best Costume Design Student from the Black Theatre Network. Xorlali’s work is research-driven, and an academic focus on African material culture, textile histories, and global black feminist identity and aesthetics.
