South Asia Humanities Collaborative
The South Asia Humanities Collaborative will showcase local resources, programs, projects, and expertise on South Asia, highlighting those pertaining to the humanities. By organizing a series visually interesting talks that are accessible to a wide audience of non-specialists, we hope to encourage dialogue across departments and schools at the University of Rochester -- and even between the University and other Rochester institutions -- in order to highlight the study of South Asia. These events will provide faculty with a forum for discussing their research in and courses about the region, and it would create a space for faculty, staff, students, and researchers with interests in South Asia to make connections. In addition, an open working group meeting will identify synergies at the University and possible community-University connections that could serve as a foundation for developing additional courses, programs, study abroad, and research opportunities that would engage University of Rochester students in the humanistic study of South Asia.
