Faculty Open Access Publishing Grant
The Humanities Center is proud to partner with River Campus Libraries to offer grants for open access publishing to faculty. A total allocation of $50,000 has been established for this pilot. Open access publishing is the fastest and most effective way to disseminate scholarship and, in turn, to bring important recognition to our faculty and its scholarship.
2023 Recipients
Eligibility
Applicants must be tenure and teaching track faculty from departments affiliated with the Humanities Center. Eligible publications will be sole-authored monographs with a university or scholarly press that are currently under contract and in production. Past publications are not eligible. Edited volumes, anthologies, textbooks, book chapters, or translations of previously published works will not be eligible for funding during this pilot.
Application Requirements
The deadline for applications is October 15. Applications should be sent as a single PDF file by email to humanities@rochester.edu. All applications must include:
- A Curriculum Vitae
- A cover letter noting the importance of open access to the project
- A copy of the manuscript’s introduction
- A letter of support from the publisher confirming the cost to make the monograph fully open access
A dedicated subcommittee of the Humanities Center’s Executive Committee will evaluate the applications and select the grant recipients. Grant payments will be made directly to the academic press within the fiscal year of the application.
