Stewart Weaver named Carnegie Fellow to support climate history study in Himalayas
Stewart Weaver, a professor of history at the University of Rochester, describing the devastation of an Indian mountain region that he and a team have observed for the past two summers. Now, Weaver has been selected as a 2019 Andrew Carnegie Fellow to continue work on the project “Climate Witness: Voices from Ladakh”—an effort to preserve the rich culture and history of the locale and its people before it’s too late.

Exhibit of student research featured in Lam Square
From now until March 31st, an exhibit of student research from last semester’s HIS 252, “Immigration and the Americas,” is being featured in Lam Square. In this course, students conducted an archival research project on the immigrant experience in Rochester in partnership with Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation. Students uncovered an embedded immigrant narrative in the archival collections, using our city as a lens to engage with broader questions of the immigrant experience.
