Hello. My name is Caleb Katz. I am from the northern suburbs of Chicago. I became interested in chemistry during my sophomore year of high school. I was incredibly drawn to the concepts of nuclear fusion and heats of reaction. At the University of Rochester, I was able to explore these concepts through the chemical engineering track. Additionally, I learned about new interesting topics in transfers, kinetics and thermodynamics that only furthered my interest in the academic field. My goal by pursuing this degree is to work in clean nuclear fusion energy in the future, but as I am still interested in many aspects of the field, I want to explore as much as I can as quickly as I can. Through joining professor Thorarinsdottir’s research group, I am hoping to apply these concepts to a hands-on experience with visible results.
