Join Us
Interested in joining the team? We are always excited to meeting motivated students and scholars interested in energy, catalysis, and sustainability research.
Postdoctoral Researchers
The group is on the lookout for qualified and motivated postdoctoral researchers. Experience in the following areas is particularly desirable: electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, framework material synthesis (MOFs, COFs), air- and moisture-sensitive inorganic synthesis, X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy. Interested candidates should send an email to Agnes containing the following items in a single PDF document.
- A 1-page cover letter describing your research interests and motivation for joining our group.
- A 2-page summary of your research accomplishments and skills.
- A C.V. including a full publication list and contact information for at least three references (one of which should be your Ph.D. advisor).
- Reprints of your most significant publication(s) (1–3).
Graduate Students
Students interested in pursuing their Ph.D. studies in the Thorarinsdottir Research Group are encouraged to send an email to Agnes to describe their motivation to join the group and set up a meeting to discuss ongoing research projects. Prior experience in our field is not required, but we expect a positive attitude, inclusive mindset, and enthusiasm for the research we do. Ph.D. positions are awarded through an annual application cycle overseen by the Department of Chemistry. Applications will next be accepted in September–December 2024, for admission to the graduate program starting in August 2025.
Undergraduate Students
U of R Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate research opportunities are currently available in the Thorarinsdottir Research Group. If you are interested in our research topics, please send an email to Agnes describing your interest in joining our team and include your C.V. Freshman and Sophomore students are especially encouraged to reach out. We expect a positive attitude, inclusive mindset, and enthusiasm for the research we do.
Non-U of R Undergraduate Students
The Department of Chemistry hosts two programs that provide non-U of R undergraduate students an opportunity to conduct summer research with one of our faculty mentors. Please apply to the appropriate program if you are interested in our research topics and specify Agnes as your desired faculty host in your application package.
- Chemistry Research for Medicine and Energy REU program for students in the US.
- i-Scholar Summer Research program for international undergraduate students outside the US.
