Hello, I’m Sydney. I grew up in a suburb of Rochester then went to Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to study chemistry and environmental sustainability. While at CMU, I was involved in science outreach, worked in residential education, and did undergraduate research with Dr. Stefan Bernhard. My research focused on synthesizing iridium complexes for use in OLEDs and renewable energy systems. In graduate school, I aim to continue to explore how chemistry can be used to solve pressing environmental problems in the field of renewable energy. I am excited to join the molecular side of the Thorarinsdottir lab to deepen my understanding of electrochemistry and inorganic synthesis. In my free time, I enjoy going to theater events, biking, and cooking. I am always happy to talk about Broadway musicals or play a board game.
