Research Opportunities
Undergraduate students in the music department typically carry out research through independent studies, often in conjunction with a specific emphasis for the music major. Students usually work with a faculty advisor to define and carry out their specific research projects and are encouraged to discuss ideas with faculty at any time.
Undergraduate research in music has included academic projects (analysis and historical research), compositions (musical theater and chamber works), and performances.
Getting Started
Get involved by taking music courses and discussing your ideas with the faculty. We encourage a wide range of possibilities, including scholarship, performance, composition, technological study, and entrepreneurship.
