Overview
The University of Rochester Wind Symphony is comprised of students, faculty, staff, and community members who are serious and accomplished musicians, but whose life course may vary from music to medicine, business, engineering or linguistics. Conducted by Mr. William Tiberio, the ensemble studies and performs standard and contemporary wind music as well as transcriptions from other genres. Recent repertoire has included such renowned composers as Grainger, Chance, Tull, Tichelli, Vaughan Williams, Hanson, Hindemith, Ives, and Sousa. In addition to regular on-campus performances, the University Wind Symphony undertakes frequent performing tours.
Auditioning for Wind Symphony
Auditions for Wind Symphony Fall 2024 will be via video recording, which must be submitted no later than Sunday, August 25th, 2024 at 5PM EST.
Begin recordings with a brief introduction (name; year; instrument, and; ensemble or ensembles auditioning for), followed by performance of a relevant piece - solo or an etude - of your choosing, 3 to 5 minutes (uninterrupted and unedited).
Upload the video to YouTube (set as "unlisted") and, email the video's URL / web address to Mr. Bill Tiberio [ wtiberio@gmail.com ] no later than 5 PM EST Sunday, August 25th, 2024. Information for uploading to YouTube and privacy settings ("unlisted") may be found on YouTube and on the web.
The ensemble rehearses Monday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Strong Auditorium.
