Overview
Established in 1993, the Paleomagnetic Research Group has seen 30+ graduate and undergraduate students on to bright futures in academia, industry, government and STEM education. Housed largely on the second floor of Hutchison Hall, students, scientists and visiting scholars have access to a wide range of equipment and instrumentation for conducting research. In 2007, a magnetically shielded room was constructed by Lodestar Magnetics (2 layers of transformer steel, one layer of Mu metal) to house our DC SQUID magnetometers -- the foundation of much of the research done by the Paleomagnetic Research Group.
