The Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies is pleased to co-sponsor an evening with award-winning film composer Anna Drubich. Originally from Moscow and now based in Los Angeles, Drubich has scored more than thirty films and documentaries, including the 2023 Oscar Award-winning documentary Navalny, the Guillermo Del Toro adaptation Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (co-scored with Oscar-nominated composer Marco Beltrami), the Disney+ documentary The Space Race, and numerous horror films and thrillers for Netflix and other studios. She has also composed for the stage, including the ballet Great Gatsby and music for the play Our Class, directed by Igor Golyak.
Drubich will discuss the art of film composition and her career as a film composer in Russia and America. The evening will include samples of her work.
