Wrocław is the fourth largest city in Poland. This visual talk will share information and research about the past of this city, formerly known as Breslau, Germany; its present as a growing, innovative, cultural center known as “the meeting place;” and its future, which includes the designation as Cultural Capital of Europe in 2016. Intersections of past and present will be shared through images and research of an ongoing project titled “Sites (Un)seen”.

Catherine Hubbard is a visual artist and Associate Professor at the College at Brockport, State University of New York. Over the past three summers she has spent time in Wrocław, Poland, first as a program leader for Brockport’s Exploring the New Europe Program, and for the last two years, as an artist researching and responding to specific sites and narratives in the city as part of an ongoing project.
