Ben (he\/him) is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Rochester. He received his undergraduate master\u2019s (MChem) from the University of Oxford in 2013, completing his thesis project in the group of Prof. Paul D. Beer on the topic of halogen-bonding rotaxanes, for which he received the Inorganic Part II Thesis Prize (Proxime Accesserunt). Ben then moved from his native UK to join the lab of Prof. Virgil Percec at the University of Pennsylvania as a Thouron Fellow, where he studied the supramolecular polymerization of self-assembling dendrons and was awarded with a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) International Student Research Fellowship. In 2019, Ben began postdoctoral work in the group of Prof. Chad A. Mirkin at Northwestern University, developing new methods to program protein assembly using DNA as an International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2021, Ben was recognized with the IIN Outstanding Researcher Award.<\/p>\n

Ben launched his independent career at the University of Rochester in July 2022, where he has been recognized with the Levinson-Shapiro Faculty Scholarship for the 2022\u20132023 academic year. Ben is also affiliated with the Chemistry-Biology Interface (CBI) Training Program<\/a> and the Materials Science Program<\/a>. In his free time, Ben enjoys cooking, walking and cycling in the greater Rochester area, and, as a self-proclaimed avgeek, plane-spotting.<\/p>\n
