If These Walls Could Talk, a short documentary featuring Rochester talent and based on actual events, will be shown.

The film authentically portrays both the struggles and opportunities of homeless youth through narrative improvisation. It celebrates the resiliency, determination, talent, and creativity of young men facing homelessness and living in a transitional living center through the Center for Youth.

Prior to the screening, film director Mathew Spaull will discuss his use of film as a medium to convey community awareness messages and discuss his work with youth. After the screening, keynote D. Watkins will offer his commentary on the film and address the struggles homeless youth face. He will use his personal narrative as a backdrop to discuss how education and art can be transformative and empowering for young people in disfranchised communities. Also, as a columnist for Salon, Mr. Watkins will offer insightful commentary on American culture and race.
