Steve Carr holds a Master's degree from Bowling Green University. He studied crustal stress changes along border faults caused by hydrological loading. He is now working on the seismic imaging of global mantle discontinuities.
Joel received his BSc in Geophysics from the University of Oklahoma, with research experience in seismic anisotropy and surface wave inversion. Joel is interested in geophysical modeling & subsurface imaging.
Sayan is our first ECE/EES student. He holds an MS degree in Data Science from UR. He is leveraging ideas in compressed sensing and deep learning to tackle problems in ambient noise monitoring and imaging.
Mai is a sophomore majoring in Data Science at the University of Rochester. She is passionate about machine learning, statistical analysis and transforming data into impactful solutions.
Helen Jackson is a current sophomore at the University of Rochester pursuing a B.S. in Computational Biology. She is interested in understanding the connections between computations and the world around her.
Stephen is a PhD candidate at the University of Twente, Netherlands with degrees in Applied Geophysics and Remote Sensing. He models the subsurface (crust and mantle) using seismological and other geophysical observables (e.g., gravity).
Dr. Zhang is the first PhD graduate from the group with degrees from USTC and CEA (see link). During his Ph.D. he developed a dazzling array of new de-noising tools: FADER and SHARP-SS. He is now a postdoc at UMD collaborating remotely with the group.
Aaron is a Junior at the University of Rochester studying Computer Science and Statistics. His interests lie in machine learning and seismology.
Qike is an undergraduate studying data science and economics at the University of Rochester. She has a keen interest in data visualization and probability.
Meng is currently pursuing a MS degree in Computer Science. His interest lies in computer vision and applying Machine Learning in earth imaging problems.
Shreyantan is a sophomore studying Computer Science and Statistics! He is interested to learn how full scale research is conducted and looks forward to contribute/learn as much as he can.
Canberk is a Ph.D. candidate in the Signal, Data, and Imaging Sciences (SDIS) Lab with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rochester. He is working on improving earth imaging with machine learning.
