Behind the Test Tube: Q&A
Rebecca Reagan—Undergraduate Student, Kennedy Group
Where is home/Where did you grow up?
I grew up in northern NJ, just an hour out of NYC.
Why did you choose chemistry as a career?
I think it is fascinating how chemistry connects all fields of science together and how chemists can use just a few fundamental principles to develop reactions that can ultimately enable the synthesis of critical molecules.
Proudest accomplishment while at the University of Rochester?
I am proud of continuing the work of previous upperclassmen in Undergraduate Chemistry Society by providing tutoring to peers and continuing to strengthen the community between chemistry majors through social and outreach events.
What do you like to do when not in the department?
I love hiking in local parks (Letchworth!) during the fall, crocheting in the winter, and learning to cook and bake new dishes.
A Rochester must?
Visiting the Rochester Public Market in the summer is an absolute bucket list item!
The goal of this initiative is to highlight the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives in the Department of Chemistry and help our community develop stronger connections and synergies. You can think of these spotlights as the beginning of a conversation that we very much hope you will continue in the corridors of Hutch and beyond.
