Where is home/Where did you grow up?

Home for me will always be Maryland! Although I was born in Detroit, I moved to Arizona when I was 2 years old, then to Virginia when I was 7, and finally to Maryland when I was 11!

Why did you choose chemistry as a career?

I chose chemistry because I was fascinated with the interesting history in the field when I first started in high school-- topics like radioactivity, toxicology, biowarfare, etc. really put chemistry into perspective and I wanted to learn more. It also didn't hurt that I was pretty good at it, too!

What do you like to do when not in the department?

I participate in a ton of extracurriculars: I've played viola for 9 years now, I have acted in two musicals on campus, I am captain of the Royals Dance Team, and I work at the campus Starbucks! (to be highlighted)

An inspiring book/movie/show?

The Bear! I have a lot of roots in Chicago and I personally see a lot of myself in one of the main characters: Sydney. Not only does she have the name of my late sister, but she always has an insatiable drive to achieve greatness and stick to her roots.

A holiday that rocks? Care to tell us why?

Halloween! I love the spookiness in the air, the color of the leaves, and the abundance of autumnal activities. I take it very seriously and make sure I have an amazing costume each year.

Fun fact or quote:

I have completed my minor in Russian Language and have been inducted into the Dobro Slovo Honor Society!
