Cynthia Landry
Graduate Program Coordinator
What is your current role in the Department of Biology?
I am the coordinator for the graduate program. This includes recruiting new students every year, advising them for the duration of their program, and assisting each one throughout the dissertation process. From the moment they arrive at the U of R until earning their graduate degree, it amazes me how fast time flies!
What do you enjoy most about working here at the U of R?
It’s definitely the people! I enjoy the opportunity my position allows me in that I’m able to meet and work with people from all over the world and learn their different customs and traditions.
How would you describe our department and the people you work with?
It's a great department to work in. The people are friendly and always willing to pitch in. I must like it here...I’ve been working in this department for 31 years!
How do you unwind when you’re not in the lab?
My home means a great deal to me. I enjoy decorating it and working in the yard. I also love watching sports, especially college basketball, professional football, and tennis.
What is one thing about yourself that you’d like more people to know?
My husband, Dave, and I ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle. A few years ago, we toured the country for three and half weeks on our Harley and had an awesome time. We saw Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Alcatraz Island, Reno, Devil’s Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Grand Canyon, and the Badlands. It was such a great experience that we plan to go out West again.
