Education & Outreach

As part of our ongoing work on Nasonia and Wolbachia, we have developed lab exercises for use in High School and College classes.  We are are interested in using these engaging model systems as teaching tools.

A major outreach activity has been the development and dissemination of a series of laboratory exercises that can be used to teach integrative biology to high school and college students. The lab series integrates biodiversity, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and evolutionary approaches and include the opportunity for students to make original scientific discoveries in a routine lab exercise, something that generates great excitement among students.  More information on using Wolbachia in education is found here.

A number of lab exercises has also been developed using the parasitic wasp Nasonia, more information can be found here.
